Technical stuff

This site is delivered by a server with a relatively low connection speed (ADSL uplink). To avoid slow loading problems, its design is therefore 'primitive' — "keep it simple and keep it small".
In particular, elaborate decoration, large/complex (especially video) images and verbosity are avoided. The essential information is tersely presented.

The site now uses PHP to incorporate content files. This provides for a degree of content management.

Use of style sheets
Client compatibility with CSS3 is preferred. In most browsers, the content remains viewable without styles.
Some 'legacy' styling is included for the benefit of older browsers.

Use of JavaScript
This version of the site does not make use of JavaScript. The buttons are, in reality, links.
Advantage: the site is transferred one page at a time, minimising data quantities.
Disadvantage: page load delay after a button is clicked.
As of 17-06-14, page sizes range from roughly 8 t0 12 kB, corresponding to transfer times of a fraction of a second. Connection and response times could well be longer.
External testing shows load times from less than 1 sec. to 3 sec., depending on client location.
A javascript redirect automatically switches to the version using javaScript if it is working.
